The De Kalb Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Arp Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
De Kalb stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 50-18 win over Redwater. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-12.
Meanwhile, Arp didn't have too much trouble with Edgewood at home two weeks ago as they won 42-24. The win made it back-to-back wins for Arp.
It was another big night for Frank Smith, who rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 243 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Smith was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. Demarcus Wade also helped out with an impressive 114 receiving yards.
De Kalb's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Chisum and 2-8 Elysian Fields (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 26.4% over those games). As for Arp, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for De Kalb against Arp in their previous matchup back in November of 2021 as the team secured a 52-22 victory. Will De Kalb repeat their success, or does Arp have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
