Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Appling Christian Academy

Appling Christian Academy had won two straight games and Xzayvier Anderson did his part to make it three on Tuesday. The Eagles took their game with ease, bagging a 66-37 win over the First Academy Lions with plenty of help from Anderson, who went 6-for-11 from beyond the arc on his way to 31 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Appling Christian Academy is 4-2 when Anderson posts three or more steals, but 1-2 otherwise.

Another player making a difference was Jaden Drake, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. His big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

First Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Rylan Peacock, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 14 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan James, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Appling Christian Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for First Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Looking ahead, Appling Christian Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Southside Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. First Academy will be paying especially close attention to the Eagles' matchup: after the Eagles face off against Faith Baptist Christian Academy, they'll take on First Academy again at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2026.
