Baseball Recap: Clarendon Gets the Win

While Clarendon's win against Quanah wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Broncos came out on top against the Indians on Monday by a score of 11-9 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The victory continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won five in a row.

Mason Sims made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Clarendon is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise. Sims was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Klay Wilkins was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Clarendon: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Bryce Williams was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

The win got Clarendon back to even at 8-8. As for Quanah, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clarendon will take on Lockney at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Longhorns will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Broncos surely won't give up without a fight. As for Quanah, they will square off against Wellington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Skyrockets have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
