This season hasn't been kind to The Fruitport Trojans, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They were outmatched by West Catholic on the road and fell 58-7. Fruitport was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-0.
West Catholic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Charlie DeBruyn out in front who rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown. Carter Abram got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
West Catholic's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. Leading the way was Ethan Stoner and his three sacks.
Fruitport's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Coopersville and 6-3 Allendale (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.2% over those games). As for West Catholic, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Fruitport does not have any more games scheduled as of now. West Catholic is also done with their season.
