Cam Foss made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Caleb Thomas was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Ben Truby was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Boone Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as 21st Century Charter only managed one hit.
Wheeler never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Whiting on Thursday. They blew past the Oilers 12-0. The Bearcats haven't had any issues with the Oilers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Calvin Paolone looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tyler Hughes, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jack Gaetz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Boone Grove's record now sits at 21-5. As for Wheeler, their record is now 11-16.
Wheeler's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Boone Grove hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. It's a different story for Wheeler, though, as they've only averaged .231. Will they be able to contain Boone Grove's hitters?
