Baseball Recap: Williston Has No Trouble Against Bradford

Williston had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Bradford on Tuesday. The Red Devils were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Tornadoes. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won eight matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Jacob Loock made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Blake Martin was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Williston's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Waylon Geiger, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Williston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bradford only posted an OBP of .323.

Williston's record now sits at 11-7. As for Bradford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Williston will square off against Branford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Buccaneers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Red Devils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bradford, they will take on Keystone Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Tornadoes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
