The Westhill Warriors will face off against the Cicero-North Syracuse Northstars at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Westhill 3.1, Cicero-North Syracuse 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Three must be Westhill's lucky number: they beat New Hartford with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Warriors beat the Spartans by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Anthony Sampo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tommy Hunt and Eric Holstein did most of the damage at the plate: Hunt went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Holstein earned one run and three stolen bases. Westhill is undefeated when Holstein posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cicero-North Syracuse). They walked away with a 12-7 victory over Fulton on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Northstars.
Jeremy Palmer made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Palmer was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Kaden Kalfass looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Jaden Zimmer was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Shacory Williams, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Westhill pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Cicero-North Syracuse, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Westhill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cicero-North Syracuse struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Westhill suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Cicero-North Syracuse when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
