The Cesar E. Chavez Lobos are taking a road trip to challenge the Lamar Texans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cesar E. Chavez will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Cesar E. Chavez will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Heights, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Lobos walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Bulldogs on Tuesday.
Ava Castillo - 2026 spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Izarely Almaguer - 2026 was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Nevay Vasquez - 2026 also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cesar E. Chavez kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 12.6.
Lamar came out on top against Westside on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run first inning. The Texans blew past the Wolves 16-1. The Texans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Maureen Faustermann, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Margot Royston, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Cesar E. Chavez's record is now 8-6. As for Lamar, their record now sits at 11-1.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cesar E. Chavez has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Lamar struggles in that department as they've averaged .586. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Cesar E. Chavez's way against Lamar in their previous meeting back in March, as Cesar E. Chavez made off with a 9-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lobos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
