The Greenville Comets struggled with assists on Monday (the Okawville Rockets had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Greenville fell 49-41 to Okawville. Greenville has struggled against Okawville recently, as their contest on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Greenville had strong showings from Emma Veith, who scored 12 points along with six steals, and Katie Campbell, who scored 18 points. The contest was Campbell's third in a row with at least ten points.
It was another big night for Alayna Kraus, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds for Okawville. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Kraus has scored at least 25% of Okawville's points. Madisyn Wienstroer was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Greenville's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6. As for Okawville, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-5.
Greenville will head out on the road to face off against Southwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Southwestern is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Okawville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Red Bud at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Red Bud will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Okawville is ranked 92nd).
