Enzo Corvino had an outrageously good game as he threw for 91 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 74 yards on only nine carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2023. Evan Pigott was another key player, gaining 67 total yards and a touchdown.
Newington's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged three passes before it was all said and done. It was truly a group effort as Heath Weeden, Christian Bilbraut, and Bilbraut picked up one apiece. Weeden is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Zachary Girolamo was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing a fumble, and forcing a fumble.
Newington was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 204 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rocky Hill only rushed for 17.
Meanwhile, Danbury was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 29-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Trumbull.
Newington's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Danbury, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
