West Yosemite recap October 8, 2013
Lemoore's Richard Doctor recorded the longest rushing play in West Yosemite this season in his game against Hanford West last week. Doctor's team defeated the Huskies as he sprinted for 87 yards on the play and finished with 345 in all.
Golden West scaled the state rankings by moving to 591 from 629 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Trailblazers were able to move up by falling to Redwood 35-14.
Adam Vance threw for 294 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 12-21 with 0 interceptions.
Doctor was a force in the backfield as Lemoore defeated Hanford West.
Doctor provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Shannon S. Pulliam's team bested Justin Fowler's team.
Vance put up the best numbers in passing as the Rangers defeated Golden West. Vance's favorite target this week was Jordan Arnold, who caught 6 passes for 200 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Jake Young of Hanford is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,288. He has also thrown 7 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Arnold. The Redwood star has 25 catches for 493 yards.
Next week's game between the Bullpups and Redwood will feature an aerial matchup as Young tests his arm against Mekal Howard's defensive ability.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Hanford takes on Shaun Ball's team. Josh Young's team is in sixth place, while the Rangers are in first place.
Adding to the longest winning streak in West Yosemite this week, Redwood beat Paul Preheim's team 35-14. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
