Baseball Recap: Central Florida Christian Academy Find Success

While Central Florida Christian Academy's victory against Altamonte Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Central Florida Christian Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Altamonte Christian on Monday. That's more bragging rights for Central Florida Christian Academy, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Andy Headley made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those triples were his first of the season.

Headley wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Vax Vouriotis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Central Florida Christian Academy is 4-2 when Vouriotis posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

The victory made it two in a row for Central Florida Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Altamonte Christian, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Florida Christian Academy will take on Wildwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Altamonte Christian, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Real Life Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on the 21st.
