On Saturday, the Burns Broncs faced the Pine Bluffs Hornets in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Burns might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Pine Bluffs an easy 44-23 victory. Burns' loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Burns had strong showings from Saria Eklund, who scored nine points along with five rebounds, and Josie Barrett, who scored five points along with four steals.
Burns' loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Pine Bluffs, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Burns will be home for the holidays to greet Alliance at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pine Bluffs will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Big Horn at 1:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
