After losing to the Holbrook Roadrunners the last time they met, the Winslow Bulldogs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Winslow narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Roadrunners 42-39.
Winslow had a senior duo take command as Jaci Gonnie scored 12 points and Jauslyn Nells dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Taylin Puhuhefvaya was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Holbrook still got an impressive performance from Noheah Aberle, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. Aberle has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Deya Guerrero, who scored 15 points.
Winslow's win bumped their record up to 6-17. As for Holbrook, their loss dropped their record down to 9-18.
Winslow will head out on the road to square off against the Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Lizzy White and Gonnie. As for Holbrook, they will be playing at home against the Lobos at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Snowflake presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Roadrunners in Arizona (the Lobos are ranked 19th, while the Roadrunners are ranked 116th).
