Baseball Recap: Arvada Continues Road Dominance on Monday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sterling, Arvada was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They never let the Mitchell Marauders get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Harley Medina made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Arvada: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Cameron Henderson was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Arvada's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Salem Duran, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.

Arvada always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

Arvada pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Mitchell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season.

Arvada will venture away from home to challenge Aurora Central at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. Mitchell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
