The North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers will take on the Harrison Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (North Montgomery 3.8, Harrison 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Harrison is facing North Montgomery at the wrong time: North Montgomery suffered their first home loss of the season on Wednesday and they're likely out for redemption. They lost 9-2 to the Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Chargin' Chargers have suffered since May 4, 2024.
Cade Cole and Aiden Ambriz-Cruz did some serious damage despite the final result: Cole went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double, while Ambriz-Cruz went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Harrison came tearing into Wednesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mavericks a 2-0 shutout. The two-run effort marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Not much got past Chase Gothrup, who gave up just three hits to keep McCutcheon off the board. Gothrup has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nolan Hodnett, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
Harrison pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for North Montgomery, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-2.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Montgomery hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Harrison struggles in that department as they've averaged .375. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
North Montgomery beat Harrison 9-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Chargin' Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
