Beaufort is on a four-game streak of home wins, while May River is on a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will host the Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Beaufort had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Bishop England on Wednesday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Battling Bishops. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Adalyn Johnson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Caylin Adkins was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Robinson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
Beaufort always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, while May River put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Hilton Head Island. The Sharks blew past the Seahawks 13-0.
May River got a massive performance out of Kali Clark, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Clark also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brooke Sweigart, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
May River has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Beaufort, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-7.
Beaufort might still be hurting after the 18-1 loss they got from May River in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
