The Brookstone Cougars on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Strong Rock Christian Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Brookstone is ranked 271st, while Strong Rock Christian is ranked 273rd).
Brookstone only won by three when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 20-point they dealt Kendrick on Saturday. Brookstone put the hurt on Kendrick with a sharp 42-22 win. With Brookstone ahead 30-3 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Brookstone found their leader in underclassman Carsyn Galligan, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Yancey, who scored nine points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Strong Rock Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 57-20 win over Trinity Prep at home. Strong Rock Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 23 points or more this season.
Strong Rock Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyleigh Rachau, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Becca Lee was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Brookstone is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Strong Rock Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Brookstone have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 37.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Strong Rock Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 23.8 rebounds per game. Given Brookstone's sizeable advantage in that area, Strong Rock Christian will need to find a way to close that gap.
