Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Ellwood Christian Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 84-45 defeat at the hands of the Tigers on Tuesday. Ellwood Christian's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it 21 in a row.
Calhoun's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brenterris Managan, who scored 15 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Tyler Robertson, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Ellwood Christian's loss was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-22. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.3 points per game. As for Calhoun, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Ellwood Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Calhoun, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Autaugaville at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Calhoun is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Autaugaville in Alabama (Calhoun is ranked 160th, while Autaugaville is ranked 330th).
