Houston is 10-0 against Schaeffer Academy since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Houston Hurricanes will be playing at home against the Schaeffer Academy Lions at 7:30 p.m. Houston will be strutting in after a win while Schaeffer Academy will be coming in after a loss.
In what's become a running theme this season, Houston gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They blew past Lanesboro 64-42. The win was just what Houston needed coming off of a 69-31 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Schaeffer Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 51-32 to Rushford-Peterson. Schaeffer Academy has not had much luck with Rushford-Peterson recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Lillian Morrisey, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four blocks. She hasn't dropped below two blocks for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Winona Morgan, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Schaeffer Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Houston is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Schaeffer Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.
Houston didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Schaeffer Academy in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 53-47 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Morrisey, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 18 rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Houston still be able to contain Morrisey? There's only one way to find out.
