Basketball Recap: Castle View Comes Up Short

Castle View lost against Chaparral back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The game between the Castle View Sabercats and the Chaparral Wolverines didn't end well, with the Castle View Sabercats falling 80-62. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (61), the Sabercats still had to take the loss.

Loss or not, Castle View got some senior leadership from Mason Orton and Braden Monson. Orton posted 12 points, while Monson earned 13 points. Monson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Bubba Wyatt was another key player, putting up five points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Castle View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matches.

Christian Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chaparral, going 13-for-19 to rack up 31 points along with six assists and six steals. With that strong performance, Williams is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Howery, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 18 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.

Castle View's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Chaparral, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Castle View will head out to face off against Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Castle View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season. As for Chaparral, they will venture away from home to square off against Legend at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Chaparral's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 contests.
