West Franklin has won ten straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Crest has won ten straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Falcons will host the Lancers at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when West Franklin and Chase County meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 13-3 victory.
Gunnar McMahan was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maverick Moody, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jessy Altic, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Crest hadn't done well against Kansas City Christian School recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Lancers were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Panthers. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lancers considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Like West Franklin, Crest also got a great game from a two-way player: Kade Nilges. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Nilges was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Crest is 12-1 when Nilges posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jensen Barker was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Henry White was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Crest lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.
West Franklin's win bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Crest, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.
