The Faith Christian Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the South Newton Rebels at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Newton took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Faith Christian, who comes in off a win.
Faith Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 73-65 victory over West Central. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Maya Layton was her usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-10 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 46 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Gracyn Musick was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, South Newton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They fell 38-31 to River Forest.
Faith Christian now has a winning record of 11-10. As for South Newton, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-15.
Everything came up roses for Faith Christian against South Newton when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 68-36 victory. With Faith Christian ahead 43-17 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
