Homer is 0-10 against Springport since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Homer Trojans' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Springport Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. Homer will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Springport is ranked 136th).
Last Thursday, Homer was the victim of a rough 62-40 defeat at the hands of Columbia Central.
Springport has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 37 points or more this season. They blew past Union City 56-19 on the road. With Springport ahead 39-4 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Springport can attribute much of their success to Brenna Crittenden, who scored 17 points along with four steals, and Maddux Locke, who scored 22 points along with seven assists and six steals. The game was Locke's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Chloey Speer was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Homer's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Springport, their victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.
Homer lost to Springport on the road by a decisive 68-52 margin in their previous meeting back in February. Can Homer avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
