The Mercy Jaguars were the 81-47 winner over the Ryle Raiders when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Mercy lost to Ryle at home by a decisive 53-39 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Mercy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Ryle is ranked eighth).
Sarah Baker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ryle, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn Jones, who scored 13 points.
Mercy has not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. As for Ryle, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-7.
Mercy will be playing at home against Sacred Heart at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. As for Ryle, they will head out on the road to face off against Campbell County at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Campbell County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
