Terrie Thornton was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off four runs, two triples, and two doubles while going 4-for-5. That's the most triples she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, J.F. Webb got a massive performance out of Jasey Lee, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Britany Mendoza was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.
J.F. Webb kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive contests.
Vance County hit Southern School of Energy and Sustainability with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans lost 13-5 to the Vipers.
Akirah Boldin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
J.F. Webb pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
