Basketball Recap: St. Anne's-Belfield Falls Short Against Ranked St. Christopher's

On Tuesday, St. Anne's-Belfield faced St. Christopher in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The St. Anne's-Belfield Saints fell 61-50 to the St. Christopher's Saints. St. Anne's-Belfield was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as St. Christopher's apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chance Mallory, who posted 22 points and three steals. Mallory's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Danzelle Bullock Coles was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

St. Anne's-Belfield has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for St. Christopher's, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Coincidentally, St. Anne's-Belfield and St. Christopher's will both be playing Trinity Episcopal the next time they take the court. St. Anne's-Belfield will host Trinity Episcopal at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while St. Christopher's will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
