After two games on the road, La Salle Institute is heading back home. They will take on The Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, La Salle Institute was fully in charge, breezing past Albany 48-14 on the road. Given La Salle Institute's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Albany is ranked 383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Saratoga Springs' three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 42-35 victory over Colonie Central.
David Newell had a dynamite game for Saratoga Springs, rushing for 183 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, while also picking up 60 receiving yards. Jack Rigabar was another key contributor, throwing for 261 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes.
La Salle Institute's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Troy and 2-7 Albany (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.1% over those games). As for Saratoga Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
La Salle Institute was taken down by Saratoga Springs 40-7 in their previous matchup back in October of 2017. Can La Salle Institute avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
