The Dixie Flyers lost to the Snow Canyon Warriors back in February of 2023, but the Dixie Flyers didn't allow the Snow Canyon Warriors the same satisfaction on Wednesday. Dixie enjoyed a cozy 70-54 victory over Snow Canyon. Given Dixie's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Snow Canyon is ranked 31st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dixie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Roberts led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. Roberts has been hot recently, having posted eight or more assists the last four times he's played. Kyle Lemke was another key contributor, scoring 23 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Despite the loss, Snow Canyon still got an impressive performance from Owen Mackay, who scored 27 points along with three steals. That was a full 50% of Snow Canyon's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Drey Smith, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Dixie pushed their record up to 13-3 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points per game. As for Snow Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dixie will take on Desert Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Desert Hills has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 218 points over their last three matches. As for Snow Canyon, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hurricane at 7:00 p.m. Hurricane is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
