Joey Metzger continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 69% from beyond the arc on his way to 33 points. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 16 points per game. Another player making a difference was Mikey Stapleton, who posted 17 points in addition to five assists and five boards.
Lafayette Central Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. They racked up 14 more assists than Covington's also-impressive total of 12.
Meanwhile, Guerin Catholic's game on Tuesday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-42 victory over Pendleton Heights. Those 44 points were actually the fewest the Golden Eagles have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Lafayette Central Catholic better keep an eye on Carter Murans. He was instrumental in Guerin Catholic's win, going 8-for-14 en route to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Rogers, who put up five points along with seven assists and three steals.
Lafayette Central Catholic now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Guerin Catholic, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Lafayette Central Catholic has been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 34.4% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Guerin Catholic struggles in that department as they've made 45.1% of their three-pointers this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
