Perry hasn't had much luck against Riverside recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Commodores will be playing at home against the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. Perry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Perry earned a 6-3 win over Botkins. The Commodores haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Hunter Scott was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brodey Douce, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Perry: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Landon Cockerell, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Perry hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Botkins struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Riverside was able to grind out a solid win over Northridge on Thursday, taking the game 8-3.
Aidden Manning was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Orsborne, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Perry's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Riverside, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Perry has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Riverside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Perry came up short against Riverside in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, falling 5-1. Can the Commodores avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
