It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the El Modena Vanguards can now relate to. They took a 41-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thousand Oaks on Friday. El Modena's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, El Modena still got an impressive performance from Xzavior Guess, who rushed for 189 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes. Guess was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 57 yards. Brodie Hitchens also helped out as he racked up 108 rushing yards.
El Modena's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Thousand Oaks, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
El Modena does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Thousand Oaks' homestand continues as they prepare to take on Bonita at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Bonita will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
