Hammond has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Heathwood Hall Episcopal Highlanders at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought game, but Hammond had to settle for a 42-40 loss against Cardinal Newman.
Meanwhile, Heathwood Hall Episcopal pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Trinity Collegiate.
The losing side was boosted by Nic Nichols, who scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xander Pertile, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Heathwood Hall Episcopal were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Collegiate only posted two assists.
Hammond's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Heathwood Hall Episcopal, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.
Hammond was able to grind out a solid victory over Heathwood Hall Episcopal when the teams last played back in January, winning 49-36. Will Hammond repeat their success, or does Heathwood Hall Episcopal have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
