Duluth East has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Tartan Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, everything came up roses for Duluth East at home against Denfeld as the team secured a 61-34 victory. That 61-34 margin sets a new team best for Duluth East this season.
Tartan can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat St. Paul Central 53-21 at home. The victory was just what Tartan needed coming off of a 68-31 defeat in their prior match.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tartan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anya Murphy, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Hernandez, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Duluth East's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Tartan, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-3.
Duluth East lost to Tartan on the road by a decisive 70-56 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2016. Can Duluth East avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
