Basketball Recap: Morgan Township Piles Up the Points Against Hebron

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morgan Township). They breezed by the Hebron Hawks to the tune of 85-56 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Cherokees have posted since February 22nd.

Morgan Township got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aidan Johnson out in front who went 9 for 14 on his way to 24 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in points. Jett Gheaja was another key player, going 8 of 11 on his way to 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Morgan Township was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Hebron's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Spencer Wynsma, who went 8 of 14 en route to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Bowgren, who posted 12 points.

Morgan Township moved to 1-7 with that win, which also ended their eight-game losing streak. As for Hebron, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Morgan Township didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-26 victory against Knox on the 21st. As for Hebron, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 68-39 win against South Bend Career Academy on the 27th.
