On Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Scott Central beat Humphreys County 44-39.
Scott Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashanti Murrell, who scored four points along with seven assists and seven steals. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimma Grace, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Scott Central's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Humphreys County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scott Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ethel at 10:00 a.m. on December 29, 2023. As for Humphreys County, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Winona at 6:00 p.m. on January 2nd. Winona is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
