The Huntington Huntsmen will head out to challenge the Washington Blue Lions at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
Huntington's last matchup with Unioto could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Friday. The Huntsmen lost 8-2 to the Shermans. Huntsmen fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Shermans since on Friday.
Andrew Oyer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Matthew Jordan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Washington). They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Westfall on Monday. The Blue Lions have beaten the Mustangs the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.
Logan Krape spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Washington got a massive performance out of Gavin Coffman, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base was Coffman's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aden Osborne, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .532. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win got Washington back to even at 7-7. As for Huntington, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-8.
Huntington might still be hurting after the 13-5 defeat they got from Washington in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Huntsmen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
