The Sallisaw Black Diamonds will head out on the road to face off against the Cushing Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Sallisaw got themselves on the board against Madill, but Madill never followed suit. They blew past the Wildcats, posting a 27-0 victory on the road.
Among those leading the charge was Brock Streun, who threw for 70 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Meanwhile, Cushing had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 61-7 victory over Skiatook. Given Cushing's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Skiatook is ranked 197th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cushing's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Roman Tucker, who rushed for 62 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, and john hilligoss, who threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Hilligoss is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Cushing also got help from Brock Bales who showed off his sure hands for 96 receiving yards.
Their wins bumped Sallisaw to 6-4 and Cushing to 8-2.
