The St. Michael's Horsemen entered their tilt with the Capital Jaguars with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. St. Michael's rang in the new year with a 44-32 victory over Capital on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as St. Michael's also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
St. Michael's can attribute much of their success to Jada Lujan, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Elsie Odai, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
St. Michael's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. As for Capital, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
St. Michael's has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Del Norte has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Capital and Los Alamos will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
