The Aurora Central Trojans will challenge the Kennedy Commanders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Aurora Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Aurora Central made easy work of Thornton and carried off a 17-4 victory. The win continues a trend for Aurora Central in their matchups with Thornton: they've now won seven in a row.
Jorge De Los Santos made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Toby Sanchez and Jose Gomez did most of the damage at the plate: Sanchez went 3-for-6 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Gomez got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Sanchez has become a key player for Aurora Central: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Kirby Colbert-Olsen was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Aurora Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Kennedy didn't have quite enough to beat Lincoln on Tuesday and fell 2-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Commanders in their meetings with the Lancers: they've now lost five in a row.
Aurora Central picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 5-8. As for Kennedy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Aurora Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kennedy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Aurora Central's way against Kennedy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Aurora Central made off with a 13-0 win. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Commanders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
