The Kanab Cowboys will face off against the Beaver Beavers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Kanab sitting on 11 straight wins and Beaver on eight.
Kanab is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Grand County as they made off with a 10-4 victory. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Walker Baird made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Baird was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kash Kabonic was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Kanon Virostko was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Kanab always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grand County only posted an OBP of .241.
Meanwhile, Beaver got themselves on the board against Enterprise on Thursday, but Enterprise never followed suit. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Wolves.
Beaver's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Robinson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Beaver's win bumped their record up to 22-3. As for Kanab, their victory bumped their record up to 19-6.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Kanab has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Beaver struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kanab might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from Beaver in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Cowboys avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
