The Vero Beach Indians are taking a road trip to take on the Jensen Beach Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vero Beach is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
While Vero Beach's win against Treasure Coast wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians never let the Titans get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since March 7, 2024.
The result came thanks to Gabrielle Espich's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Vero Beach saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trinity Bishop, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Jensen Beach made easy work of Westwood on Wednesday and carried off a 19-0 victory. The Falcons have beaten the Panthers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.
Riley Boop made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Olivia Kalinowski and Ella Schramm did most of the damage at the plate: Kalinowski went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple, while Schramm went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ale Segura, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Jensen Beach was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .588. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Vero Beach's record now sits at 9-10. As for Jensen Beach, their record is now 6-13.
Vero Beach took their win against Jensen Beach in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 10-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
