Rosary Academy is a perfect 3-0 against St. Margaret since September of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Royals will head out on the road to face off against the Tartans at 5:15 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Rosary Academy's win against Sage Hill wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Royals narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Lightning 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Royals have posted since September 18th.
Rosary Academy took Sage Hill into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-22, 18-25, 23-25, 15-12.
Aurora Ortuno was nothing short of spectacular: she had nine digs and two aces. That's the most digs she has posted since back in October of 2024. Leila Teves was another key player, getting 15 assists and three digs.
They weren't the only good servers: Rosary Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Margaret's, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Laguna Beach 3-2. The Tartans haven't had any issues with the Breakers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
St. Margaret's had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 15-25, 25-21, 25-20, 17-15.
Rosary Academy's record is now 22-9. As for St. Margaret's, their record now sits at 15-9.
Rosary Academy was able to grind out a solid win over St. Margaret's in their previous matchup back in September, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
