The Spoto Spartans will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Lennard Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Spoto will be strutting in after a victory while Lennard will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Spoto beat Brandon 30-26. The win was just what Spoto needed coming off of a 35-13 defeat in their prior matchup.
Z'orey Cotton got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Cotton really tore up the turf during one magnificent 90-yard run. Cam White and his 82 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Spoto's victory.
Meanwhile, Lennard's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their fifth straight loss. They took a 27-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Bay.
Despite the defeat, Lennard had strong showings from Richard Sykes, who picked up 102 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Jacob Mobley, who punched in a rushing score.
Spoto's victory bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Lennard, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Spoto has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 378.8 total yards per game. It's a different story for Lennard, though, as they've been averaging only 208.4 per game. Will Spoto be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will Lennard flip the ?
