The Mount Olive Pirates fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They managed a 40-35 victory over Mississippi School for the Deaf on Thursday. That's another feather in the cap for Mount Olive, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Despite the defeat, Mississippi School for the Deaf saw an underclassman step up: DeSiare Ingram scored 16 points. That was a full 45.7% of Mississippi School for the Deaf's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Aimaya Brand was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Mount Olive's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-14. As for Mississippi School for the Deaf, they dropped their record down to 7-15 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
Mount Olive does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mississippi School for the Deaf also has no future games currently scheduled.
