The Tomball Kings Homeschool will venture away from home to challenge the Fayetteville Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tomball Kings is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Tomball Kings fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Fort Bend Christian Academy on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-7. The defeat continues a trend for the Homeschool in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Mikey Sharp was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has become a key player for Tomball Kings: the team is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-12-1 otherwise.
At the plate, Avery Bell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Tomball Kings is 7-2 when Bell posts two or more runs, but 8-12-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Owen Wilkins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Fayetteville came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bobcats/Lady Cats a 16-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won three contests by 13 runs or more so far this season.
Dylan Henneke and Easton Jaeger made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Henneke tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jaeger pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At bat, Henneke scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Jaeger scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Fayetteville let Lawson Fritsch and Jack Schley run wild. Fritsch scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Schley went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Fritsch has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Jack Winford also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Fayetteville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.
Fayetteville pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Tomball Kings, their loss dropped their record down to 15-14-1.
Both Tomball Kings and Fayetteville just can't seem to miss. The Homeschool have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Fayetteville struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tomball Kings was able to grind out a solid win over Fayetteville in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, winning 8-3. Do the Homeschool have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
