2A Region 4 recap November 13, 2013
Hector added to the longest winning streak in 2A Region 4 this week by beating West Side, 51-8. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Hartford fell to Hackett 56-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Union Christian Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Braxton Smith threw for 321 and 4 touchdowns and Will Callaway had 150 yards receiving. On the ground Hunter Hammond contributed 148 yards. Hammond helped Union Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 66 yards.
Samuel Copeland was a key player and the best on defense this week as Mountainburg fell to Pocola. The 5-foot-6 sophomore recorded 1 fumble.
He went 26-36 with 1 interception.
Smith put up the best numbers in passing as the Eagles bested Western Yell County. Smith's favorite target this week was Callaway, who caught 10 passes for 150 yards.
Union Christian Academy's Smith and Callaway led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-5 quarterback Smith has thrown for 2,457 yards this season, while Callaway has 61 catches for 844 yards. Gus Nichols from Hector leads the league in rushing with 1,053 yards.
Allen Castaneda has rushed for 939 yards on 115 carries so far this year.
The Hornets led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Hustlers.
