The Winslow Bulldogs struggled with assists on Friday (the Show Low Cougars had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Winslow suffered a tough 57-32 defeat at the hands of the Cougars. While losing is never fun, Winslow can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Cougars are ranked eighth).
Despite the defeat, Winslow saw an underclassman step up: Taylin Puhuhefvaya scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Show Low's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raquel Wilson led the charge by scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Wilson hasn't dropped below three steals for 14 straight games. Mikenzie Kulish was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Winslow has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for Show Low, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-1.
Winslow has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Roadrunners at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Show Low, they will head out on the road to face off against the Lobos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
