Southwest Yosemite recap October 29, 2013
Bakersfield added to the longest winning streak in Southwest Yosemite this week by beating Frontier, 42-21. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Centennial was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. The Golden Hawks defeated Independence 28-6 earlier in the week.
The Titans' dynamic duo of Caleb Thompson and Brady Serda proved to be unstoppable against Bakersfield, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Thompson threw for 93 yards and 2 touchdowns and Serda had 51 yards receiving. Jasmit Thind helped Frontier's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 56 yards.
Brandon Robinson was a force in the backfield as Centennial defeated the Falcons.
Robinson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Kevin Sneed's team topped Independence. Robinson's favorite target this week was Greg Gomez, who caught 2 passes for 23 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Josh Medina of Liberty is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,229. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Thind. The Frontier star has 35 catches for 477 yards.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Frontier's Thind goes up against Stockdale's Andre Canepa.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Paul Golla's team takes on the Golden Hawks. The Drillers are in second place, while Centennial is in third place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Bakersfield takes on the Golden Hawks. The Drillers have allowed 143 points this season, while Centennial has given up 152. Bakersfield allowed 21 points last week as it beat Richard Cornford's team.
Todd manzano's team lost to the Golden Hawks 28-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
