The Monroe Golden Tornadoes will square off against the Cairo Syrupmakers at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday.

While the Golden Tornadoes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans  7-0 in the first  quarter.
 Monroe might have lost, but man,  Keyon Thomas was a machine:  he rushed for 96 yards and three  scores on only 12 carries.
 Meanwhile, Cairo entered their tilt with Leon on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lions 48-7. The  matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached  42-0.
 Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Cairo, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
 Monroe suffered a grim  38-14 defeat to Cairo  when the teams last played  back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of  the Syrupmakers'  Bryian Duncan Jr, who rushed for 195 yards and three  touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per carry.
